Estee Lauder is a boss

journal-entry

I was listening to a podcast about Estee Lauder, and I felt a deep pang of envy at hearing Estee describe how her mother would instil confidence and self-belief into her as a child.

Estee's mother used to say to her: "You are as beautiful as you think you are. The secret is to imagine you are the most important person in that room; the person who everyone is waiting to see. If you imagine it vividly enough, you will become that person."

Upon hearing this, I was immediately jealous of Estee. If I had a mother like this, would my life be different? Though just as soon as the emotion came over me, it was replaced by another set of emotions: excitement and gratitude.

Though I may not have learned that sentiment young, there is no reason I can't learn it now. There is no reason I can't embody confidence. There is no reason I can't pretend as though I am the direct recipient of Estee's mother's words.

Words are beautiful; they transcend time and space, and they are full of wisdom.
